Song of the Day - January 23, 2006

The Saints are one of the original punk bands from down under. On their latest release Nothing Is Straight in My House they prove that they still have it. Fronted by original singer Chris Bailey and ex-Church guitarist Marti Wilson-Piper, The Saints rock like it is 1977. Definitely the best track is the title track "Nothing Is Straight in My House." It reminds me vaguely of The Kinks but more raw. The song is built on a simple riff that they augment with brief but bluesy guitar licks, an addictive chorus, and original punk attitude.
