Song of the Day - June 27, 2006

I stumbled across this tune the other day and just had to share it. The Sugarplum Fairies "Velcro Girl" is stuck in my brain. It's a beautiful indie pop song with a definite 90's feel, however, there is slight undercurrent of the 60's in Silvia Ryder's vocals and Ben Bohm's psychedelic guitar solo. Overall, this is one of the more upbeat songs on their latest release Country International Records, which is a fine album specializing in melancholy songs in the country noir vein.
